William David Gerard (Bill) Purves was tragically diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in January 2022.
Bill started to experience speech difficulties just prior to Christmas 2021 leading to substantial paralysis by the New Year.
Following tests Bill was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GMB). This is the most common type of primary malignant brain tumour in adults. It is also the most aggressive and lethal.
Bill passed away on 23rd April at the Prince of Wales hospice in Pontefract after a cruel and unforgiving four month battle.
Very little is known about Glioblastoma and currently we do not know what causes this terrible disease.
The Brain Tumour Charity are dedicated to accelerating a cure and making a life-changing difference for every single person affected by a brain tumour, but they can’t do it without you. Any donations would be greatly appreciated by Bill's family to help The Brain Tumour Charity fight this devastating condition for future generations.
Bill was a lovely man and I will always remember him as a very lovely colleague with a ready smile to brighten whatever type of day you were having.
Will always think of you Bill with love, hope you fly high my brother in law night night god bless.
Bill Purves; Mr Genuine, Mr Helpful, Mr Interested, Mr Positive. He was at the end of the queue when they gave beaming smiles out and he took everyone that was left. RIPBill, Ian & Yaz xx
